Up for sale is a rare genus of Devonian nautiloid. While many nautiloids, such as Orthoceras, are extremely common, Cyrtoceras is almost unheard of. This particular genus hardly ever comes on the market and if you look online, only a couple of people sell them. The best specimens come from Europe, mainly Ukraine, which is where this one was found. Not only this fossil extremely three dimensional, it is also free-standing, so you don’t have to worry about finding a display stand.

Cyrtoceras is an extinct genus of oncoceridan nautiloid. It lived from the middle Ordovician to the middle Devonian periods, 488 to 318 million years ago. Specimens have been found on most continents, including Africa, Europe, North and the Americas. Cyrtoceras had a conical, slightly curved shell and was a fast-moving nektonic carnivore. It lived in reefs and shallow subtidal waters.
