Halisaurus (meaning “Ocean Lizard”) is an extinct genus of marine lizard belonging to the Mosasauroidea superfamily. It grew to 3 to 4 metres (9.8–13.1 ft); small compared to other mosasaurs. This mosasaur also had double-hinged jaws and flexible skulls, much like our modern-day snakes, allowing them to swallow their prey, such as fish, ammonites and sharks, whole.
