Tentaculites are an extinct genus of conicial molluscs that existed from the Lower Ordovician to Upper Devonian period. They had ribbed, calcitic shells and their microstructures were very similar to brachiopods. Not much is known about the taxomony of Tentaculites, but some scientists group them with pteropods and may also be related to cornulitids and trypanoporids.

Brachiopods (phylum Brachiopoda) are hard shelled marine animals that first appeared during the early Cambrian period, around 550 million years ago. They look similar to bivalves, but bivalves are part of the mollusc phylum, whereas brachiopods are their own phylum and unrelated to molluscs. Although brachiopods are rare today, back in the Palaeozoic era they were extremely common and widely dispersed throughout the world. For more information, click here.
